ABOUT MAKINIG
In literal terms, Makinig is Filipino for “to listen.” But it’s true meaning is defined as a gateway for Asian American artists to express their soul and passion for music. Our goal is to help strengthen communities and aid philanthropic projects using the tools found in the form of talents. Then, a platform (Makinig) is created in order for that talent to express and manifest to higher levels.
This year, Makinig is moving in a new direction and expanding north for the very first time. The non-profit organization that we are supporting is called Gawad Kalinga (GK for short). GK is a Philippine organization devoted to forming a community of volunteers who involve themselves in building homes for impoverished peoples of the Philippines. They have also been expanding their efforts to providing food, supplies, and education throughout the Philippines.
