So what is Makinig?

We’re sure you’ve all seen the fliers, the promo videos, posts and all that…But we just wanted to let you know about what Makinig really is about.  

Makinig is an event that serves as a platform for artists to showcase their talents, but it is much more than just a concert.  Our mission is to:

1.  Bring together the community for a night of entertainment and raise money for Gawad Kalinga, a 501( C)(3) non-profit organization that devotes it time to forming communities and building homes in the Philippines. 

2.  Support established and emerging Asian American artists by strengthening the platform where they can showcase their talents. 

3.  Develop the leadership abilities of young student leaders who are involved in the planning process, so they can become stronger individuals in society and their communities.  

The word ‘Makinig’ when roughly translated from Tagalog to English means, ‘to listen.’ It is our hope to use Makinig as a tool to help spread the voice of artists, the less fortunate and the young leaders of the future.  By helping spread that voice, we hope that the community will listen.

So with that being said…please join this movement.  Be a part of this night that will surely be one to remember.  Help spread the word.  Together we will be able to make a permanent impact in the community.
